On 31st October, 1991, three powerful weather systems collided off the coast of Newfoundland. Caught in the mountainous seas and hurricane force winds are - amongst others - the swordfishing fleet from Gloucester, Massachusetts and a sailing yacht. Despite the combined forces of the U.S. and Canadian rescue services, the swordfishing boat Andrea Gail cannot be located and Captain Billy Tyne and his crew of six are feared lost.
