Swedish by birth, Parisian by inclination, and American following her 1950 marriage to Irving Penn, Lisa Fonssagrives was, for three decades, the most sought-after model of fashion photography. She posed for Man Ray, Erwin Blumenfeld, Louise Dahl- Wolfe, Norman Parkinson, Richard Avedon, for her first husband Fernand Fonssagrives, her fellow European immigrant Horst P. Horst, and, of course, her second husband Irving Penn.
