In arguably the most influential post 9-11 book, Chomsky bridges the information gap around the attacks, untangling political opportunism, patriotism and general conformity. Chomsky places the attacks in context, marshalling his deep and nuanced knowledge of foreign policy to trace the history of American aggression in the Middle East and around the world. He also warns against the increasing reliance on military rhetoric and violence in response to the attacks, making the often ignored point that violent response will only ignite further attacks.
