On 13th–15th September 2017 the 11th Congress of Czech Historians was held in Olomouc. Due to the exceptional interest of the community of experts, the programme was divided into more than eighty partial panels where the participating historians could acquaint these experts with the results of their current research. Considering the exceptional interest in the issue of nobility, this topic was divided into two basic sections dealing with the topic of aristocracy. Panel P80 The Formation and Transformation of the Noble Community of the Danubian Monarchy in the 17th–20th Century focused on the questions of the development and changes within the noble community of the Habsburg Monarchy in the modern period, as during the four centuries of its existence the Habsburg Monarchy had experienced a relatively turbulent social, political and economic development. Panel P69 Central European Nobility as a Political, Social and Cultural Phenomenon of the 20th Century was dedicated to the analysis of the transformation of the position of the aristocracy in the period following the First World War. The presenters focused especially on the economic and social aspects of the history of the elites. This volume provides the extended written versions of most presentations, which were presented in both aforementioned panels.
